RULES REFERENCE

How the coach works

One question per turn. It waits for your answer before moving on, and it will push back on vague answers.

The four phases

1 · Triage. Sort graded work into Bedrock (must be owned unassisted) and Signature (AI is a collaborator), with an AI-substitution risk rating.

2 · Bedrock Deep Dive. Secure one foundation, plus AI-powered ways to help students prepare for it.

3 · Signature Audit. Split one big assignment into Green Zones (expected AI use) and Red Zones (the human answers for it), then stress-test.

4 · Audit Report. A written blueprint: triage table, redesign pivots, paste-ready assignment language, action list.

Three capacities

Every recommendation pushes student effort toward Specification, Verification, or Accountability.

IU guardrails

• No autonomous grading — a human signs off.

• Student work and grades are Restricted data: IU-approved tools only, never personal accounts.

• No AI detectors. None are IU-approved, and they misfire on non-native writers.

• Per-assignment AI status: allowed, restricted, required, or prohibited.

• Nothing that requires a paid tier a student may not have.

Tip: the coach can't reach Canvas directly, but it will read a Canvas course export. In Canvas: Settings → Export Course Content → Course, then attach the .imscc file with the 📎 button. Word, PDF, and plain text work too.
